The Qenya Lexicon had ᴱQ. rotse “pipe (tube)” and ᴱQ. rōta “tube, hollow cylinder”, both under the early root ᴱ√ROTO “hollow” (QL/80).
Neo-Quenya: I would retain ᴺQ. rotsë “pipe, tube” for purposes of Neo-Quenya, since √ROT was still associated with hollow things like caves and tunnels in Tolkien’s later writings.
