Q. menta-² v. (ta-formative) “have as object[ive], (in)tend, proceed, make for, go towards” (Category: Purpose, Intention)

⚠️Q. menta-², v. (ta-formative) “have as object[ive], (in)tend, proceed, make for, go towards” (Category: Purpose, Intention)
Q. mína- “to desire to go in some direction, wish to go to a place, make for it; to have some end in view, *intend”

An intransitive ta-formative verb based appearing in notes from around 1950, based on the root √MEN and having the gloss “have as object, (in)tend, proceed, make for, go towards” (PE17/93).

Neo-Quenya: Tolkien often treated Q. menta- as a causative with the sense “send = make go”. I prefer this meaning for menta-, while for “desire/intend to go” I prefer mína-; see those entries for discussion.
