Q. #-on² suf. “augmentative, great” (Category: Comparative, Intensive)

Q. #-on², suf. “augmentative, great” (Category: Comparative, Intensive)

An augmentative suffix -on appears as an element in a few Quenya words like ëaron “ocean [great sea]” (PE17/27) and [ᴹQ.] andon “great gate” (Ety/AD). This augmentative suffix -on is better represented in Sindarin. Given the plural form andondi of andon, the stem of this augmentative suffix may be ond-. Compare also primitive “augmentative or male suffixes” -ŏn or -ŏndo (PE17/43).
