ᴺQ. !putton (puttond-) n. “paragraph (marker), section (of text), (lit.) great stop” (Category: Page)
In a 2026-04-23 post to the Vinyë Lambengolmor Discord Server (VLDS), Luinyelle suggested using puston “great stop” for a paragraph or section of text. It is a combination of [ᴹQ.] pusta “stop” and the augmentative suffix -on. It arose from a 2023-06-25 conversation where it was suggested that puston technically applied to the four-dot tengwa (--) used to mark the end of a paragraph or section but could refer to the body of the paragraph as well. The English word “paragraph” has a similar origin, originally referring to the paragraph marker (¶).
I prefer to use [ᴹQ.] putta for “stop (in punctuation)”, so I would update this neologism to putton (puttond-).
