Q. tama pron. “that matter” (Category: Thing)
A word glossed “that matter” in 1968 notes on demonstratives, apparently a combination of ta “that” and ma “(some) thing”. It might more accurately mean “*that thing/event under discussion”.
Conceptual Development: In a deleted phrase from Demonstrative, Relative, and Correlative Stems (DCR) from the late 1940s, Tolkien had tama “thing” (PE23/103 note #40).
