Q. quentasta n. “historical account” (Category: History)
A word for a “historical account” in notes associated with the Quendi and Eldar essay from 1959-60, a combination of quenta “story” and the collective suffix -sta (VT39/16). It was use “of any particular arrangement (by some author) of a series of records or evidences into a given historical account”. As an example, Tolkien said that “Ingoldo’s History of the Noldor” would be Noldo-quentasta Ingoldova.
Conceptual Development: Notes from the early 1930s had similarly formed ᴹQ. qentasse “history” (SM/206).
