Q. Fíriel f. “She that Died; She that Sighed; Mortal Woman”
A name given to Míriel after she became the first Elf to die of non-violent means (MR/250). This name is a compound of the verb fir- “expire” and the feminine suffix -iel. In the preface to the Adventures of Tom Bombadil, Tolkien translated her name as “mortal woman”.
