Q. ruxotompalë n. “Great Bear-dance” (Category: to Dance)
A term for the “Great Bear Dance” in notes from around 1965, first given as (rejected) ruxopandalë (NM/335). The derivation for this word is unclear, but its first element resembles rusco “fox” from the late 1960s. Its second element may be related to Tompollë, the place where the dance took place. Note that in The Nature of Middle Earth as published, this word appears as ruxöalë, but Carl Hostetter corrected this to ruxotompalë in the errata to his book.
