Name of the third month of the year in the Westron calendar (LotR/1110) corresponding to “March” (PM/135). It seems to be an elaboration of gwae “wind”, perhaps meaning “*Windy-one”. It is also possible -ron is a reduced form of raun “moon” as suggested by David Salo (GS/362).
