ᴱQ. mána adj. “dead” (Category: to Die; Dead; Death)
An adjective for “dead” in the Early Qenya Grammar of the 1920s based on the verb ᴱQ. maka- “die” (PE14/58). In all likelihood, the k in mak spirantalized before n and then vanished while lengthening the preceding vowel as described in Early Qenya Phonology (PE14/68): makna > maχna > maʒna > māna. Hat-tip to Matt Dinse for this suggestion.
