A more exact term for “walnut [tree]” is G. Codorn (an) Ivon “cordon of Yavanna”, and a more exact term for “chestnut [tree]” is G. Codorn (an) Ormon “cordon of Orome”, also appearing as inverted ivogodron and ormagodron respectively. The nuts themselves were G. ivangod (or ivongod) “walnut” (GL/52) and G. ormagod “(Spanish) chestnut” (GL/63), along with a general term {cod·Vanion >>} G. cod·walion applicable to both, more literally “*nut of the Gods” (GL/26).
