According to the Comparative Tables, the voiced dental spirant [ð] (“dh”) developed medially from voiceless [θ] (“th”) (PE19/23), which itself developed from the aspirate [tʰ]. Also according the tables, medial [θ] was sometimes preserved in East Danian, but there is no information on the conditions regulating these changes.
