N. Manathon m. “*Bliss-friend”
A rejected Noldorin name appearing in Silmarillion drafts from the 1930s (Ety/MANAD), apparently a translation of Eadwine (“Bliss-friend”) as suggested by Carl Hostetter and Patrick Wynne (EtyAC/SON). It is a combination of manadh “fortune” and the suffixal form of (rejected) thond “friend”.
