Ilk. [u]
The vowel [u] could be short or long in Ilkorin. Non-final [u] generally survived from Primitive Elvish, except where it underwent a-affection. Short [u] developed from primitive [o] before following [i], a change that was important in the formation of Ilkorin plural nouns. Long [ū] also developed from the primitive diphthong [ou].
