ᴱQ. -wen suf. “*number suffix” (Category: Number)

⚠️ᴱQ. -wen, suf. “*number suffix” (Category: Number)

A number suffix appearing in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s (QL/33, 69, 71). Its basic function seems to be for forming duodecimal words as in ᴱQ. olwen “thirty-six” = “*three twelves” and ᴱQ. otwen “84” = “*seven twelves” (QL/69, 71). However in ᴱQ. atwen and ᴱQ. uiven “twenty” it seems to be used to form a decimal number (QL/33); compare ᴱQ. yukainen “twenty” = “*double tens” from the 1920s (PE14/49, 82) and ᴹQ. yurasta “24” = “*double twelves” from the 1930s (PE14/17).
