A (Sindarin-only?) root appearing in notes written around 1960 to explain the words S. gweth- “*to report” and S. dangweth “answer, *(lit.) back-report” (PM/395). Given that its Sindarin derivative was gweth- and not **beth-, the actual primitive root must be *√WETH, otherwise the ancient gw would have become b.
