A Númenorean “of the House of Bëor” and father of Erendis (UT/177). The language and meaning of his name is unclear. His name could be derived from ᴹ√BEREK “wild, fierce” (as suggested by David Salo, GS/344). Alternately, it could be related to the old Bëorian name Bereg, since Christopher Tolkien said there were notes indicating Beregar was also of the house of Bëor (WJ/232).
